Dear Delegates,
It is my privilege to welcome you all to the General Assemblies, the “grand equalizer” in which no nation has more say or voting power than another. In the General Assemblies, we pay tribute to the main deliberative, policymaking organ of the United Nations that has existed for the past six decades and has expanded to 193 recognized nations.
In its two decades of existence, WorldMUN has proven time and again that it has the ability to bring together delegates from every corner of the globe to celebrate the tradition of multilateralism and global justice. This year, Vancouver will raise issues such as the outdated laws of war, sovereign debt, and global management of water resources. Between the chairs, assistant chairs, fellow delegates, and the beautiful city of Vancouver, we challenge you to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime WorldMUN experience.
There are times when the GA will be frustrating: the largeness of every General Assembly committee reflects the diversity of the world and of the delegates at this conference. The limited opportunities for each delegate to address their committees may very well seem insufficient. But rest assured: in the General Assembly, no matter who you are or what nation you represent, you will get your chance to speak, and when you do, the whole world will be listening.
Best,
Kevin Liu Huang
